I Pledge Allegiance To The Lamb
Words and Music: Ray Boltz
I have heard how Christians long ago
Were brought before a tyrant's throne
They were told that he would spare their lives
If they would renounce the name of Christ
But one by one they chose to die
The Son of God they would not deny
Like a great angelic choir sings
I can almost hear their voices ring
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
With all my strength With all I am
I will seek to honor His commands
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
Now the years have come and the years have gone
And the cause of Jesus still goes on
Now our time has come to count the cost
To reject this world, to embrace the Cross
And one by one let us live our lives
For the One who died to give us life
Till the trumpet sounds on the final day
Let us proudly stand and boldly say
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
With all my strength With all I am
I will seek to honor His commands
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
To the Lamb of God who bore my pain
Who took my place who wore my shame
I will seek to honor His commands
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
the closing song for serve07. a meaningful song. reflect upon it.
two months, a time and sacrifice i never regret. so much things i have learnt, so many paradigm shifts, new knowledge gained. mm, it's like things you can't explain. in any case, the friendships i built in SERVE07 theGap seem like friendships that have lasted for so long. perhaps because of the deep sharing that was present. in any case, a good ending to this serve.
I pledge my allegiance to the Lamb, have you?
hmm..

Oh, come come, my dear, come here.
Would you like me to put on your coloured glasses for you?
Sure, for you choose to see the world
only through those garbage-coloured glasses.
Isn't the world such a horrid place?
Ah yes yes, i agree with you for
everything and everyone else are nasty, aren't they -
well, perhaps, yourself as an exception.
No? Are you sure?
My dear, there's no need for modesty here!
They said actions speak louder than words, didn't they?
I remember hearing you critique
and sneer at them
but only to see you do what they did (and what they did isn't wrong, if i may add).
Oh, come come, my dear, come here.
Let me help you. First take off those sunglasses of yours,
and view things as they should be.
Maybe add a tinge of empathy,
climb into their boots for a sneak preview.
Ah, it's not as comfortable as it seems, right, my friend?
Please do, correct your vision,
and use your brains once in a while to think for others,
and ponder on what you do.
Reflect on your life, please, before you speak.
For you may just be, a hypocrite.

hmm. interesting.
I never knew she was a timid girl - a girl who gets afraid once someone scolds and shouts, be it being directed at her, or at someone else. I remember the time, when a random crazy woman was screaming at them during lunch for no rhyme or reason. She ended up trembling in fear, yet I never knew why she was so afraid of agression, be it verbal or physical. Loud voices, harsh tones, or just, agression - they all frighten her. Sensitive or just timidity, I couldn't decide. But once again, another encounter left her beaten in spirit, heavy hearted and even traumatised. It was an experience helping an old woman; a nasty, mean, demanding, crazy old woman.
A woman who screamed at nothing; a woman who screamed at everything.
And every time the woman called out, or approached, even raised her voice at any one of her team mates, I noticed that she shunned, avoided and even hid from the old woman. I perceived her thinking, ohmygosh, please, God, make me invisible. Well, I was thinking, how is she going to handle the four to eight old people that she will be assigned to? For I knew, she was badly traumatised by these two incidents involving old people. However, perhaps God is pointing her towards old people, the group of people she never ever wants to work with, an aged group unlike the little children she loves. But I know she has no "burden" in her heart for old people, for I know her mind. She, I am confident to say this, is put off by old people for now. So, will you, my reader, pray for her, that God will grant her the ability to work with the aged, to love them and reach out to them, to serve them like how Jesus loves and served them?
i broke my rule of not coming online this week. hahaa.
catharsis. blehh.

My 2 friends stop nagging at me cuz they gave up asking me to blog. Sign in to upload the photos we took in bangkok. (abit outdated since the trip was like last month) Then felt bad, think i should really blog if not blog name can change to happy 2 friends already... It's been ages since i last blog.. That's the reason why i dun even remember my username and password... Got so many updates to the blog some more... *headache*
Had a huge steamboat feast wif the matchstick girls... Stayed over at Eunice's house last night, managed to stay up to chat wif them till 3 .15am.. Usually i'm the one who sleep the earliest among the 3. (that's why they always complain) Updated them about my life a little.. I was practically talking throughout the night cuz i'm always the one absent when they talk in church and youth. Eunice even ask me why i so energetic last night...
Anyway, i"m arrowed by joanie i guess to organise the next gathering... It's has also been so long since i last organise something in church.. (Aiyo, feel so bad) Gonna take some time deciding on which day to hold the gathering on... This afternoon in church, Celine ask me whether i'm free on one of the cny days. Then ask me whether my house is open for them. Dinner is gonna be prepared by me! When shuhei knew about this, he immediatly ask me to cook crab as one of the dishes that night... *very ma fan* Still muz kill the live crab, wash them cuz they really stink... Gonna be busy busy busy...
*busy becky

i was changing water for the bouquet of flowers that my mom brought home for me and scrubbing the vase clean when my mom suddenly shrieked: 'what are you using to scrub?!!"
i was bewildered. what did i do wrong? the last time i did it, i was told to take the green toothbrush and this is the same toothbrush that i used the previous time!! and i even used it to brush off some dirty stain on the living room cushion the other time round.
guess what? the reason is because the toothbrush that im happily using is actually my DADDY'S toothbrush!! :D ahhhhhhh!!!
so hilarious! assuming that my mother did not discover my folly, my dad would be smelling decayed flowers and dirt in his mouth the next time he brushes his teeth when he is home from thailand! hahahha! :P
anyway..spent another precious 42 bucks on a follow-up check up with the eye specialist and i enquired about the sting in the other eye and she said she is not surprise that im feeling this way because the last time round she saw some infection inside the right eye already. ok great.. so its both eyes infected and im not aware?? :D although the vision cleared alot, there is still a difference. and im not happy!! :p quick!! perfect eyesight come back!! :D
lovely poem.

Corner Seat
Suspended in a moving night
The face in the reflected train
Looks at first sight as self-assured
As your own face - But look again:
Windows between you and the world
Keep out the cold, keep out the fright;
Then why does your reflection seem
So lonely in the moving night?
-Louis Macneice
beautiful poem isn't it? seemingly simple, yet conveys so much if you analyse it carefully.. the symmetry, the syllables, the contrasting ideas. it's one of my favourite poems in E8. i would like to be able to write such a lovely poem one day, having such power in words and emotions. suddenly thought of this poem, perhaps another day i'll post another of my favourite writings.

wonder whether eunice and rebecca remember this sunday school friend of ours called rachel lee? we were pretty close at that time but she stopped coming after some time because church was too far away from her house in the east.
this semester.. i saw someone that resembled her but wasnt sure whether i recognised her correctly. but we acknowledged each other when we ended up in the same group during tutorial class.
i find this really amazing because the chance of us meeting each other again is soooo slim. and yet, by God's grace, we met again. wow...wonderful! :D
